romance Niketas Choniates on Alexios III

Here is an extract from the history of Niketas Choniates that explains his thoughts on the administration of Alexios III Angelos. It gives us a small insight into how the chaos of the imperial administration came about which helped lead to the fragmentation of many regions in the empire as well as severly weaken the imperial governments control on those areas that were loyal. Setting the stage for the empire's dismemberment after the Fourth Crusade.
